Things to Consider Before Joining a Direct Sale Company

Are you considering joining a direct sales company and starting your own home business? If so, there are a few important things you need to consider before you join any direct sales company. Many people join direct sales companies without taking the time to think it out before they sign on the dotted line.

Running a home business is not easy and it is time consuming to say the least. Before you sign up with a company...you need to take a look at your own life to decide if you have the time to work a direct sales home business. Here are a few things to consider.

1. You will need to be flexible with booking your home parties. You will find that the majority of party hosts hold weeknight and weekend parties. What does this mean to you? It means that if you only plan on working 9 to 5 during the weekdays with weekends off...direct sales is most likely not the business for you.

2. There will be team meetings and team training calls to attend. Will you have the time to attend them and if you have small children at home...do you have a plan in place for someone to watch them so you can attend them? I see a lot of people join companies but then never attend any in-person team meetings or team training telephone calls. When you avoid these you are hurting yourself and your business because these training's are 'valuable' to you obtaining business success.

3. Can you afford the expenses that come along with owning your own direct sales business? There will be catalogs to purchase, paper business supplies, mailing supplies, demonstration products, consultant web site fees, etc. These can add up if you are not prepared for them.

4. Can you commit to working your new business on a regular and consistent basis? When you have a direct sales home business you will need to set up a schedule to work on promoting your business and you will need to promote it on a consistent basis. "Fitting" in work time whenever you can around your family's schedule...rarely works.

These 4 things outlined above are very important for you to consider before you joining any direct sales company. Once you examine your life and schedule...you can make an informed decision on whether a direct sales business is right for you.
